The Senate argues that Putin interfered to help Trump win the election

Trump has denied any collusion with Russian Federation on his campaign and calls Mueller's investigation a "witch hunt".

Here are some key findings.

What do you think of Donald Trump Jr.?

Trump Jr. also testified that he had no reason to believe Russian Federation supported Trump before getting a message from Goldstone that the promised information was "part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump".

In 2017, Trump Jr. tweeted out an email he'd sent to Goldstone prior to the Trump Tower meeting in which he responded to the possibility of getting Clinton dirt with, "If it's what you say I love it". Goldstone told the Committee that on his way out of the meeting he apologized to Trump, Jr., saying, "I'm really embarrassed by this meeting".

Just a few days after Anthony Scaramucci was named White House communications director, he reached out to a music publicist who helped set up a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Kremlin-connected lawyer.

Sawyer asked. After his counsel objected to the question, Trump, Jr., went ahead and answered it.

As The Washington Post points out, it has become increasingly hard to believe that Kushner ― or anyone else in Trump Sr.'s inner circle ― would have attended the meeting without the assumption that negative information about Clinton would be provided. "The meeting was instead primarily focused on Russian adoptions".

The approach came on the margins of a December 12, 2016, meeting at Trump Tower between the Persian Gulf state's foreign minister and Michael Flynn, who became Trump's first national security adviser, The Post reported.

But he told the Senate panel that "he may have commented through Hope Hicks", his former spokeswoman.

"I also firmly believe that this effort is not over".

Trump Jr. deflected multiple questions during the interview, saying he couldn't recall whether he discussed the Russian Federation probe with his father and whether he spoke with his dad on the day the meeting was arranged. A big question has been whether that was his father, and whether Trump Jr. might have informed his father about the meeting.

Some online began to speculate that the blocked number may have belonged to the president.

. But he also didn't recall whether Trump could have been who he spoke to on a call to a blocked phone number.

In another email, Goldstone referred to Veselnitskaya as "the Russian government attorney".

But Veselnitskaya apparently did not ultimately provide damaging information on Clinton. "I fully concur with the conclusion of the bipartisan leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee that the ICA's determination that Russian Federation sought to help the Trump campaign, hurt Hillary Clinton and sow discord in the United States is fully supported by the evidence", Schiff said in a statement. "And I didn't see anybody react in a way that I believed people would react if they heard damaging information".

There is a four-minute mystery phone call - which took place just prior to the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Trump campaign officials and Russians - that Donald Trump Jr. claimed he couldn't remember much of anything about.

"He has this odd fascination not only with the strongmen, but the nearly retro male chauvinist culture that they have still in Russian Federation", said Ms Evelyn Farkas, a former deputy assistant secretary of defence for Russian Federation in the Obama administration. "I totally understand re Moscow - unless maybe he would welcome a meeting with President Putin which Emin would set up", he wrote on July 24, 2015.

The president's son said that, in the end, the information offered at the meeting didn't amount to anything, it was apparent they weren't representing the Russian government and he didn't discuss it beforehand with his father.

Exactly what any of it means is unclear, but there will be plenty of sleuthing to figure it out.

However, Veselnitskaya apparently spent most of the meeting alleging that she had discovered the flow of illicit funds to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as well as inveighing against the Magnitsky Act, a USA sanctions law that prompted Russia to ban US adoptions of Russian children.
