Time travelers are welcome at Stephen Hawking's memorial service

Pallbearers carry Stephen Hawking's coffin out of Great St Marys Church at the end of the funeral in Cambridge

"Professor Hawking once threw a party for time travelers, to check what would happen if he will publish the invitation after the event".

Members of the public have been invited to apply for tickets to attend a celebration of Professor Stephen Hawking's life at a memorial service in Westminster Abbey here on June 15, with visitors from the future welcome to apply, local media reported on Monday.

Hawking's foundation said that the possibility of time travel has not yet been disproven, so it can not be excluded.

His ashes will be interred by the graves of fellow scientific giants Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin.

The renowned theoretical physicist, cosmologist and author died aged 76, on 14 March and his funeral took place at Great St Mary's Church, Cambridge.

In June 2009, after "a party for time travelers", Professor Hawking said that the fact that she had no one was, is an experimental proof that time travel is impossible.

"No one came, but it seems flawless that now the reminder service's website will be able to assist people born in the future".

Hawking famously staged a party for time travellers in 2009, complete with champagne and a banner saying, "Welcome time travellers". "Anything is possible until proven otherwise", said one representative of the Stephen Hawking Foundation.

'So far we have had applications from all round the world, and we do mean round - there are no flat-Earthers here'.

However, some claim that the this is not a time travel experiment rather a programming error that the website is accepting registration from people born two decades from now.

"I sat there a long time, but no one came", Prof Hawking told reporters in 2012.

Commenting on having an "extraordinary" time working in the field of cosmology, he said he was happy to have made a contribution "to our understanding of black holes and the origin of the universe". Apply to attend the ceremony before 15 may.

The physicist could have an answer next month - as his family have invited time travellers to turn up to his memorial service.
