Trump Calls Some Immigrants 'Animals' In Sanctuary Policy Meeting

The International Office is preparing for a possible policy change that would impact student visa holders. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services filed a policy memorandum that would make it easier to start the clock on unlawful presence

Trump made his remarks during a White House roundtable event in which California law enforcement officials and elected officials discussed the Golden State's revolt against California's sanctuary laws for illegal immigrants.

About 15 minutes into the meeting, President Trump once again expressed his outrage over Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf's decision to warn illegal immigrants that ICE was about to do a sweep in her community.

Jennifer Rubin, an anti-Trump columnist at the Washington Post, called it "utter dehumanization of men, women and children".

Trump said he wanted people to come into the U.S. legally and on merit basis.

There is just one tiny problem with the story: it's "fake news", as Trump himself would probably call it.

Last week, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen reportedly threatened to resign after being berated by Trump for not doing enough to stop illegal immigration.

"She informed them, and they all fled - or majority fled - and that whole operation, that took a long time to put together", Trump said.

"They could have passed a resolution calling for their own congressman to put a bill in place so he can get co-sponsors on to pass a comprehensive immigration reform", said Santos Garcia.

"The state of California's attempt to nullify federal law has sparked a rebellion by patriotic citizens who want their families protected and their borders secured", he told the group of California officials gathered at the White House for the meeting.

On Wednesday, Brown accused Trump of "lying on immigration" and "lying about crime and lying about the laws of CA". Infamously, on the day he announced his candidacy in 2015, Trump said many Mexican immigrants were "criminals, "drug dealers" and "rapists".

Republicans see backlash to the law as a potentially galvanizing issue during the midterm elections, especially with Trump's anti-immigrant base.

"We want to make sure that Sacramento gets the message and we want to make sure that the president knows that there's people in California that have a different perspective", he concluded. But we're taking people out of the country, you wouldn't believe how bad these people are.

San Diego and Orange counties joined the ranks of cities like Los Alamitos to oppose the California Values Act following the lawsuit filed against the state by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The administration is using protocols described in a 2008 law created to combat child trafficking that gave special protections to Central American children at the border. California Democratic lawmakers have vowed to push back and are hoping his unpopularity in the state will help in their effort to win control of Congress. Mims said she supports the president in keeping communities safe.
