Trump's Surgeon General Jumps Into Action In Medical Emergency On Delta Flight

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams testifies before the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill

Dr. Jerome Adams, an anesthesiologist, said he assisted someone on a Delta Air Lines jet as he prepared to fly Wednesday to Jackson, Mississippi.

On Wednesday, Jerome Adams, the USA surgeon general, tweeted that Delta staff on his flight to Jackson, Miss., asked if there was a doctor on board to assist in a medical emergency. He is the 20th Surgeon General of the United States.

It is not clear at this time what the medical emergency was, but Delta released a statement which said Adams helped when hearing a passenger needed medical attention.

"Prior to takeoff, Delta flight 1827 from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta returned to the gate following a customer illness".

The passenger eventually regained consciousness, but HHS staff said Adams ultimately determined it was necessary to go back to the gate and have the person evaluated at the hospital. Adams assisted the passenger out of the plane and even contacted the patient's spouse to relay what had happened.

In a tweet, Delta thanked Adams for his assistance. He or she oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, more than 6,600 uniformed public health-care personnel who work in various parts of the federal government.

Adams tweeted that the patient was doing well and, like a good public health service doctor, he was happy to assist.
