Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United, says agent

Danny Rose

Martial has been out of favour at the club since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and recently missed out on a place in the France squad for the World Cup, with club form, no doubt, playing a part in Didier Deschamps final decision to omit the striker.

Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley confirmed to French outlet RMC that his client had made a decision to leave United after a hard couple of seasons working with manager Jose Mourinho, as he has become a regular bench warmer and struggled to make his mark when chances came his way. "There are many parameters, for now it's premature to talk about it. Anthony will speak later to discuss all of this".

"Man United want to extend Anthony's deal and they do now want him to leave, but we have not come to an agreement for several months".

"I think that when United, the most powerful club in the world, do not find an agreement after eight months of negotiations then they do not really want to keep such an important player in their squad". This is why the decision has come.

Martial's contract expires at the end of next season so if he is dead-set on going elsewhere in the current transfer window, United will be very keen to sell in order to prevent the risk of their £36m signing leaving for nothing.

"I think he has done his best for three years. Today, Anthony is disappointed because he has shown for three seasons the love he has for the club and its supporters". "On top of that, I can tell you that without the fans' unconditional support Anthony would have already asked for a transfer", he added.

"Anthony just wants to play, find fun, the feeling with the coach will be crucial". It is important to remember that this season he scored 11 goals and gave ten assists in five months.

"Everyone will have his opinion, I think he must resume the course of his career". His relationship with Mourinho grew frostier by the day and game time was hard to come by for the youngster.

Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from Manchester United, but where could he go next?
