AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Global Box Office Tops $2 Billion

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Becomes Fourth Pic To Cross $2 Billion Global Mark

The Marvel Studios blockbuster passed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office on Monday - its 48th day in theaters, Disney announced Tuesday. The superhero mash-up film crossed $2 billion dollars at the box office this past weekend.

All three of those films were released in December, which makes "Infinity War" the first film released outside of the holiday season to make $2 billion globally, when not accounting for inflation. The highest domestic earner of all time is Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a total of $936,662,225.

"Infinity War" now ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film in the US and Canada with $656.1 million thus far.

Can "Infinity War" reach the rest of the pack? Its domestic and worldwide debuts over the April 27 weekend combined for a record-shattering global opening of $640.5M even without China. Domestically the film notched $6.8 million this last weekend, and internationally the film pulled in another $10.9 million. The movie opened to an impressive $199.3 million in China two weeks after its global debut and went on to become the third-biggest release ever in the country, with $369.7 million to date.

Now we can all start speculating whether or not next year's Avengers 4 will top this.

The Avengers will assemble again for the still-untitled fourth film, set for May 3, 2019.

Avengers: Infinity War is now playing everywhere.

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet - the evil Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality.
