Driver sacked after kicking lesbian couple out of Uber for kissing

Two women say an Uber driver kicked them out of his auto after they shared a quick kiss in the backseat, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

The women - a couple in their 20s - were on their way from Brooklyn to Manhattan on Saturday when they exchanged what they called a "peck" on the lips.

They say driver Ahmad El Boutari forced them out and a confrontation ensued.

"I was taking an Uber yesterday afternoon in Manhattan when my driver abruptly pulled over and kicked myself and my girlfriend out of the auto", Iovine told the New York Daily News.

The women asked the driver why they were not allowed to kiss, to which he responded that it was "disrespectful".

The women initially thought the unidentified driver was joking, but once they realized he wasn't they began recording the incident.

The driver says: "Yeah, it is illegal".

The couple angrily threatens to call the police, saying: 'It's not illegal to kiss in NY'.

'It's illegal, ' he said. ". Don't do that here in the vehicle".

The guidelines also have a "Respect each other section": "Treat your fellow riders and drivers as you would like to be treated yourself: with respect".

Alex Iovine and Emma Pichl say they were kicked out of an Uber after sharing a kiss in the back seat.

The driver then got back in the auto and left. But Iovine and Pichl said they were doing no such thing. "I think we are going to steer clear of Uber for a bit".

When they press him on the issue, he tells them that "it's disrespectful" before seeming to attempt to take the phone they're using to record the argument.

"Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we have reached out to the rider regarding her experience", an Uber spokesperson told Newsweek in a statement. "We are investigating and will take appropriate action".

"This blatantly discriminatory behavior described by the complainant is repugnant, and will not be tolerated in the City of New York", Fromberg said. Iovine and her girlfriend Emma Pichl are still upset after being thrown from that Uber vehicle.

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission, which licenses about 180,000 drivers of vehicle services and yellow cabs, called his behaviour "ridiculous".

Five minutes later, according to Pichl, the driver "pulled the cab over and said 'you should not do that...do not do that'".
