FBI agent who accidentally shot bar patron after dropping his gun while dancing charged with assault

Chase Bishop presented himself to the Denver Sheriff's Department on Tuesday.

AN FBI agent who was filmed accidentally shooting someone after his gun fell out of his holster while doing a backflip in a crowded bar has been charged. When he went to grab it, the firearm went off and shot another customer leaving them with a serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower leg. The gun can be seen going off after it fell out of the holster and he went to retrieve it.

A 24-year-old man was shot at the Mile High Spirits Tasting Room in Denver, after Mr Bishop's gun flew out and discharged during the flip.

Bishop was part of a dance-off at the bar and during a backflip, his concealed weapon fell out of his trousers.

Bishop's story went viral after a video circulated on June 3 appeared to show him dropping a handgun while performing a backflip in Denver's Mile High Spirits distillery.

The agent was taken to police headquarters and later released to a supervisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He then put the gun back in his trousers and walked away with his hands up.

"I heard a loud bang and I thought some idiot set off a firecracker", Reddington said. "Then I looked down at my leg and see some brown residue. And that's when it clicked in my head, 'Oh, I've been shot'". The FBI also has not released any information about its policy for agents carrying weapons while off duty and in alcohol establishments.

Reddington, who has hired a lawyer, said he lost a lot of blood and that he "soaked through several blankets, several towels, a few gauze pads".
