Pompeo said a day earlier he would like to accomplish major nuclear disarmament in North Korea within Trump's current term.
Several U.S. lawmakers expressed their approval of Trump's meeting with Kim, but said they were skeptical of the U.S. leader's declaration that North Korea no longer poses a nuclear threat.
The leaders signed a statement pledging to establish a new relationship. Officials in China and Russian Federation have called for sanctions relief to be considered, while South Korea has been aggressively pursuing a rapprochement with North Korea.
Kimmel noted that Trump told the press he had formed a "special bond" with Kim after meeting with the North Korean leader for only 38 minutes. Will he then withdraw the 29,000 USA troops out of South Korea that have served as a guarantor for the ally against post-war Japan, North Korea, and now a rising China over 68 years?
Mr Trump said before he took office, "people were assuming that we were going to War with North Korea", and president Barack Obama said North Korea was the nation's biggest problem.
"There have been many analyses on the outcome of the summit", Moon told Pompeo ahead of their meeting, Reuters reported.
Sceptics of how much the meeting achieved pointed to the North Korean leadership's long-held view that nuclear weapons are a bulwark against what it fears are US plans to overthrow it and unite the Korean peninsula.
"Not all of that work appeared in the final document", Pompeo said.
Earlier Wednesday, Trump wrote online that North Korea no longer poses a nuclear threat to the USA after his meeting this week in Singapore with Kim, adding that Americans should "sleep well tonight".
Ambassador Joseph DeTrani, who served as a top USA negotiator with Pyongyang before the last attempt at diplomacy broke down in 2009, was more optimistic.
He lauded the joint statement of bare-bones principles as a comprehensive denuclearisation agreement, when to many seasoned observers it didn't constitute anything close to a disarmament agenda binding Kim Jong-un to action.
President Trump has made it official, at least on Twitter. Moscow and Beijing have long pushed a plan known as "freeze-for-freeze", referring to a halt to USA military maneuvers alongside a freeze in North Korean nuclear and missile tests.
Pompeo will then travel to Beijing, North Korea's main diplomatic ally. In return, Trump has promised to stop US military drills in South Korea.
Will Trump demand the same standard in his negotiations with the North Koreans, insisting that Pyongyang offer inspectors historically invasive access to its military facilities?
"Let me assure you that the "complete" encompasses verifiable in the minds of everyone concerned". Trump cast the decision as a cost-saving measure, but also called the exercises "inappropriate" while talks continue.
The U.S. has stationed combat troops in South Korea since the end of the Korean War in the 1950s and has used them in a variety of drills.
"I had a very good meeting with the G7 and I left left the meeting", Trump corrected.
In Japan, the prospect of canceled U.S.
The Trump administration is set to cancel the next joint military exercise on the Korean Peninsula scheduled for August, a report said on Wednesday. He said he planned to continue sharing the view with Washington and Seoul.
