Jaguar E-Pace crossover gets new tech

The Jaguar E-PACE is available to order at United Kingdom retailers now priced from £28,500.

The 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol sends the new entry-level E-Pace to 60mph in 7.7sec.

This included the addition to the "self-learning" Smart Settings technology, Adaptive Dynamics suspension and a new 200PS petrol engine.

Under the skin, the E-Pace has been treated to the same Adaptive Dynamics system offered on the rest of the Jaguar range.

According to Jaguar, the system learns about driver patterns based on time, location and weather-based behaviour patterns, which means the vehicle will eventually be able to pre-heat the seats if it thinks the driver is about to commute and it's chilly outside - at least, that's the example provided. The Jaguar E-PACE recognises the approaching driver, based on both a key fob and smartphone Bluetooth signal. It will then adjust the seat, climate control and the infotainment system according to the driver's preferences. Up to eight profiles can be set up on the Jaguar E-PACE. The Intelligent Phone Reminder function will also tell the driver if they forget their smartphone, while the Predictive Call List learns patterns of phone use to cue up popular contacts at the appropriate time. The Smart Settings is offered as part of the Connect Pro Pack, which also consists of a 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot, Pro Services and navigation. Jaguar's Adaptive Dynamics system, now available on every auto in its range bar the XJ, has Normal and Dynamic modes, with the former majoring on comfort and the latter focusing on agility.

Jaguar has broadened its range of engines in the E-Pace with an entry-level 197bhp petrol unit that sits below the 247bhp and 296bhp variants already on sale. It responds to the driver's input and road surface changes to provide better control and minimise body roll.

It allows the vehicle to sprint from 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds, delivers fuel economy of 34.4 mpg and 186g/km Carbon dioxide emissions. All the new engines from the Coventry-based carmaker now comes equipped with particulate filters to achieve a higher standard of emission control.
