Millie Bobby Brown Split Her Kneecap and Will Miss MTV Awards

Millie Bobby Brown leaves Twitter amid cyberbullying

In a new Instagram video, the 14-year-old Stranger Things star showed off the brace on her leg, but just not how she did it.

As Vanity Fair notes, the star wore a pin to the MTV Movie and TV Awards this year to support the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's "Together" movement.

The hashtag #TakeDownMillieBobbyBrown started past year, according to one Twitter user, when someone claimed in a tweet that the actress refused to take a picture with her unless she removed her hijab. "I love them so dearly and I wish them the best, and I'm sending my luck with you". Millie also got a nod for Best Actor in a Show and split a nomination for Best Kiss with Wolfhard. "Love you guys so much and peace out". Luckily, the rest of the Stranger Things crew - Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Sadie Sink (Max), and Noah Schnapp (Will) - will be on hand to accept any awards on the show's behalf.

The group is nominated for Best On-Screen Team at the show. Millie Bobby Brown, 14, revealed in an Instagram video that she isn't attending the awards show since she's broken her first bone. She quit the social media app after becoming the target of a wave of satirically homophobic memes.

The reason behind the memes remains unclear, but several Twitter users have claimed they originated as an inside joke for LGBT tweeters.
