Shy teen earns Golden Buzzer with soulful performance on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Why Courtney Hadwin auditioned for America's Got Talent and when she'll be on again

"Bloody hell Courtney", Simon Cowell told her after her act.

The 13-year-old aspiring singer bashfully admitted that she was "a little bit nervous" as judge Mel B asked her how she was feeling, and she giggled awkwardly when asked questions about her favorite subjects in school. After she was done rocking out, the judges were quick to shower Courtney with praise.

Watch Courtney's audition below! That changed her life.

However Howie was so floored he said: 'The only thing I can do for you young lady...' as he dramatically launched an arm up and smashed the buzzer, while the other judges lost their proverbial.

"Thank you so much Howie Mandel I am so happy and can't thank you enough".

"You are not from this era". Mandel says as he strikes the buzzer on the judges' desk. "I know it's a big stage and there are lots of people here, but you're here for a reason so go for it".

Host Tyra Bank adds: "You were absolutely awesome. I've never seen anything like that", host Tyra Banks said of her performance.

She has also sung locally in Hartlepool, but America's Got Talent opens up a whole new audience for the schoolgirl.

It's not her first foray into talent shows, after being pipped at the post on The Voice Kids UK. Comparing Hadwin to a young Joplin, Mandel recalled the story of how legendary music producer Clive Davis discovered Joplin and immediately signed her to his label.
