Trooper pulls over officer who helped with his delivery

New Jersey state trooper pulls over retired cop who delivered him in his own home 27 years ago

The trooper told him Poe Place - and memories flooded back for Bailly, who'd delivered a baby on that very street on October 5, 1991, when he was a rookie.

Fate brought together two men almost three decades after they briefly met. After learning Bailly was a retired Piscataway police officer, Patterson told him he was also from Piscataway. "He goes as far as describing the house that I grew up in and then he said the baby's name was Michael, so I extended my hand and said - sir - my name is Michael Patterson, thanks for helping to deliver me", he said.

A New Jersey trooper made the traffic stop of a lifetime last Friday when he pulled over the retired police officer who delivered him almost three decades ago.

Bailly responded - and the doctor talked him through the birth of the would-be trooper.

After Bailly told his story, Patterson reintroduced himself. After she had struggled home, her husband phoned a doctor.

Other commenters wondered if Patterson had given Bailly a ticket for the vehicle violation.

KYW reported that Patterson and his mother both visited Bailly after the traffic stop for a reunion.

"They all felt this story was so uplifting, it needed to be shared, and we agree!" state police wrote.

"Bailly had four years on the job when he responded to a home on Poe Place in Piscataway".

Bailly was pulled over Friday because of tinted windows on his vehicle and was advised to correct the problem, police said.

On the day Patterson was born, his mother Karen was out shopping when she went into labor, police said.

Patterson and his mother recently visited Bailly and his wife to complete a reunion nearly three decades in the making. The state trooper and the cop who delivered him took more photos together to mark the occasion. They wanted others to hear the wonderful story, so they shared the photos with the state police.
