A look back at Trump's strained Twitter relationship with the UK

Protestors in Brussels target Donald Trump

American nationals have been told to be careful on the streets of London during planned demonstrations against Donald Trump later this week.

Gatherings and rallies are planned across the United Kingdom from Thursday, when Mr Trump is expected to touch down in Britain.

While no plans for Mr Trump to enjoy a round of golf have been confirmed, a protest will be held outside the president's Balmedie course in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, and it is expected there could be demonstrations around his Turnberry resort too.

Tens of thousands of protesters are expected to turn out against Donald Trump when he visits Britain this week but some believe the protests are an embarrassment and that the United States president deserves a warm welcome, writes Alex Fraser.

"Numerous demonstrations are planned" from July 12 to July 14, with a majority of protests occurring in central London on Friday, the embassy said in an alert Tuesday.

Even a "Trump baby" blimp will fly with approval from London's mayor.

Trump is scheduled to meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II later this month.

Trump is set to arrive in Britain this Thursday, July 12, following North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meetings and as part of a greater tour around Europe, meeting with various different groups and delegates.

- After the London Bridge terror attack in June previous year, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said people should not be alarmed by visibly increased security on the streets of the capital.

But Trump is unlikely to see many of those who have mobilized to protest against his visit.

According to the Mirror, the US Embassy urged its citizens to remain vigilant during Trump's two-day visit beginning July 12, instructing Americans to "be aware of your surroundings" and watch local news for updates as the Commander-in-Chief tours the country. Then, Trump will head to Scotland for a few days.

Shabbir Lakha, organizer for Together Against Trump - a coalition representing several groups - said, "We want to show our opposition to Donald Trump and everything that he represents".
