Backlash over Forbes dubbing Kylie Jenner 'self-made'

Two Indian Origin Persons On Forbes List Of US Richest Self Made Women

Forbes released an Instagram photo for the cover of the August 31 issue of the magazine yesterday, July 11.

"Another year of growth will make her the youngest self-made billionaire ever, male or female, trumping Mark Zuckerberg, who became a billionaire at age 23", Forbes reported. I don't want to live in a world where Kylie Jenner doesn't have a billion dollars. Kylie, at nearly 21, has an estimated $900 million to her name, thanks largely to the success of her make-up line and lip-kit specifically. According to Forbes one more year and she will be the youngest billionaire in the history.

"We consider any person who built her own fortune, and didn't inherit the money, to be self-made", Forbes' methodology reads.

Discussion around whether Jenner, whose upbringing in ritzy Calabasas was documented on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians", is truly "self-made" quickly exploded.

Jenner now ranks at number 27 on Forbes' list of "America's Richest Self-Made Women".

Even Dictionary.com took a moment to tweet the definition of "self-made", which "means having succeeded in life unaided".

On Wednesday, People published a story claiming that Dictionary.com was "shading" Forbes for its cover story, causing yet another disagreement on the correct use of a word.

The bulk of her income is derived from Kylie Cosmetics, best known for its lip kits.

After all, she grew up in one of America's richest and most-followed celebrity families.
