British Republicans to show support for Donald Trump UK visit

Evening Times

Top it off with the introduction of trade policies that have targeted some European industries - even though European nations are longtime friends accustomed to easy trade with the USA - and it is not surprising that Trump's itinerary will keep him out of central London on Friday, when large protests are planned.

He said: "We have enough difficulty with the European Union".

"It's an opportunity to reach a free trade agreement that creates jobs and growth here in the UK and right across the United States".

Alan Duncan, Foreign Office minister, said he was still confident of a US-UK trade deal and called Donald Trump a "great character".

Referring to the plan outlined on Thursday in which Britain would aim to keep strong ties in trading of goods with the European Union, he said: "The deal she is striking is a much different deal than the one the people voted on".

She praised the friendship between the two allies, glossing over Trump's previous remarks that Britain was a "hot spot" in turmoil over Brexit.

"The deal she is striking is a much different deal than the one the people voted on", he said.

"I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn't agree, she didn't listen to me", Trump said. I am assuming that his mum told him that when you go to someone's house you do not insult the host.

Donald Trump has launched an extraordinary attack on Theresa May, saying she ignored his advice on Brexit and had, therefore, put a potential trade deal with the United States at risk. The "Trump Baby" protest balloon will be floating above them after the mayor gave his permission for the 20-foot inflatable to fly.

"I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London", Trump told the Sun.

The shadow foreign secretary lashed the US President saying his comments were "rudeness upon rudeness upon rudeness".

John Rees of the Stop the War group addressed the protesters, saying of Trump: "He's a wrecking ball for race relations, he's a wrecking ball for prosperity, he's a wrecking ball for women's rights, he's a wrecking ball for any peace and justice in this world and we have to stop him".

Tens of thousands will protest Trump's visit in London Friday, and their numbers could well be swelled by Trump's interview to The Sun newspaper which emerged as British Prime Minister Theresa May was hosting him at an opulent black-tie dinner in the leafy splendor of Blenheim Palace - the birthplace of wartime leader Winston Churchill, whom Trump is said to admire greatly.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who signed off on the so-called "Trump Baby" blimp, defended the decision Thursday, arguing the protests were not anti-American.

Ambassador Johnson sought to play down Trump's comments.

"The United States' commitment to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation remains very strong", Trump told reporters at a surprise news conference following an emergency session of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members held to address his threats.

Mr Trump will touch down for his highly controversial four-day trip which has sparked protests and demonstrations in the capital leaving taxpayers footing a police and security bill of up to £10 million.

The president also took the opportunity to express his "great love for countries in Europe", but claimed that allowing in refugees fleeing conflict and starvation was causing the continent to lose its culture.
