Elon Musk Apologizes to British Cave Diver for Calling Him a 'Pedo'

Elon Musk built a mini submarine to extract the boys from the cave

Mr Unsworth's knowledge of the cave complex is said to have played a key role in the rescue effort. The first boys were rescued 16 days later with the rescue operation concluding on July 10.

Another report from The Guardian stated that Musk has been facing a lot of scrutiny lately for his rants on Twitter and his aggressive attitude towards journalist and other critics.

Mr Unsworth, 63, said he was considering taking legal action against the billionaire after Musk made an unfounded allegation that he was a paedophile because the British ex-pat lived in Thailand.

Mr Musk stated that he was particularly offended by Mr Unsworth's description of the submarine as a "PR stunt" and stating that he could stick the submarine "where it hurts".

How did the row erupt?

He then tweeted, "Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it".

Both tweets have now been deleted.

Mr Unsworth lives in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, about 40 miles from the Tham Luang caves where the boys became trapped. In April, Tesla's stock fell 5.16% after Musk mocked analysts who were anxious about the company's financial health.

Gene Munster, a managing partner at venture capital firm Loup Ventures, said he wrote the letter on behalf of Tesla investors due to Musk's "concerning" behavior over the last six months.

How did the cave drama unfold?

All 12 boys are expected to leave hospital as early as today (Wednesday) and are due to conduct a press conference with their coach this week.

Beyond the submarine, Chavez' tweet also touched on another Musk project - Pravda, a website announced in May to rank the credibility of news outlets, announced after he expressed dissatisfaction with the reporting around his projects.

The entrepreneur has been likened in the past to a genius behaving like a playground bully.

But straying away from defending his companies into personal insult brought Musk some unfavorable attention at a time when Tesla, worth more than $52 billion, is deep in debt and struggling for profitability.
