Greenbrier Classic: Kevin Na wins first tournament in seven years

Harold Varner III shares the 54-hole lead with Kraft

The victory was Na's first since he won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in October 2011. He began the day one shot behind co-leaders Kelly Kraft and Harold Varner III.

Both are seeking their first tour wins in their 85th starts.

No third-round leader has gone on to win the tournament since its debut in 2010. "I've been close so many times, failed so many times".

"I never got ahead of myself".

Na had three dozen top-10 finishes since his first win and showed signs earlier this year that reaching the top again was still well within reach.

"It took me eight years to win the first time and at the time I told everyone it would not take me eight years to win another one".

"I'm playing really well". It was an easy putt, obviously, and all I needed to do was two-putt. "I just know that I'm going to have to have a low one (Sunday)". So it goes back to keeping it in perspective.

Kraft finished solo second at 14 under after a birdie on the 72nd hole. The final three holes line up nicely for potential excitement on Sunday, as the 16th is a par 3, the 17th is a par 5, and the 18th is a tough par 4 at 476 yards.

"It was nice to have a big cushion where I could enjoy the moment walking off the 18th hole, say hi to my loved ones on camera".

"I hit a lot of good shots, but I didn't score great", he said.

The 25-year-old Kim won by five shots over Lydia Ko when she shot 27 under in the Founders Cup two years ago. Besides Stricker, with his three-year dominance, only two other golfers have ever won consecutive events in the tournament's history. The 2016 tournament was canceled after devastating floods. "It's why I play golf - all the practice days, all the misses, all the bad moments, all are taken care of with putts like that Making two of them from nearly identical positions, I mean, that's a bit of a bonus". Kraft posted a 63 to take a one-shot lead at 13-under par over Anirban Lahiri, who matched Simpson's Thursday effort with a round of 61 himself. He started the final round just a shot behind the lead, but got things in gear with six birdies in a seven hole stretch from 4-10 on Sunday. He had four bogeys and two birdies to end his chances at victory.

With greens drying out in the afternoon, they shared an adventure on No. 15.

With a 65, Kevin Na moved into third place at 13-under.

Bubba Watson shot 65 and was among three players at 11 under.

Watson wanted to honour his late father, Gerry, a Green Beret who fought in the Vietnam War.

Austin Cook finished tied for fifth place, with all five players earning a qualification spot for the upcoming Open Championship at Carnoustie.
