Jurgen Klopp defends Loris Karius after latest error

Jurgen Klopp

Ahead of that match, Jurgen Klopp said Karius was "100 percent" influenced by the concussion after a collision with Madrid captain Sergio Ramos during the Champions League final.

Liverpool's No.1 stopper made another howler in pre-season as the Reds took on Tranmere Rovers in their second warm-up game this summer.

Karius' bundled a routine save in the second-half of Liverpool's 3-2 win to allow Jonny Smith the opportunity to pounce and score his first goal on debut for Tranmere.

Liverpool emerged as 3-2 victors but in his second appearance since the Champions League final - when his two mistakes cost Jurgen Klopp's side - Karius made a huge error.

'Two brilliant footballers make mistakes but we only talk about one.

'Loris conceded that goal, but we can not create a story after every mistake.

"We need to make the most of the situation and learn". Our job is to support Loris. I've seen this situation 500 times at least in my life - bam, against the chest and the ball is going down.

"You (the media) can all stop it immediately - promise?" You never ask again, that would be one little step!

The 18-year-old opened the scoring after'just seven minutes at Prenton Park, sweeping a low finish home after being fed inside the box to get the Reds off the mark.

As it stands, however, it really doesn't seem like the German fancies any of the 'keepers on the market and as we all know, he's not one to spend for the sake of it but would rather wait for the right man to become available. "I would be really insane if I would not give these boys a chance - they are fantastic players, they've played fantastic games, so we will see what happens".
