Knife attack on German bus results in multiple injuries, reports say

A police spokesperson said the attack occurred in the Kuecknitz district of the city and a suspect has been apprehended and arrested.

Germany had long warned of the threat of more violence after several attacks claimed by ISIS, the bloodiest of which was a truck rampage through a Berlin Christmas market in December 2016 that left 12 people dead.

A knife-yielding madman wounded at least 14 people in a northern German city Friday, seriously injuring two in an unprovoked attack on a public bus, according to the Daily Mail. There were conflicting reports on the number of injured people and the severity of the injuries.

Police said authorities were still trying to determine the circumstances of and motive for the attack. "We are examining the situation and will give more information later", police said.

Lübeck police were not immediately available for comment.

She said the identity of the suspect, who was being questioned by police, has yet to be confirmed.

"One of the victims had just given up his place to an older woman, when the attacker stabbed him in the chest", Luebecker Nachrichten quoted a witness as saying.

This is a developing story.
