When Magic Leap devices are available for consumers, you'll be able to test them out at AT&T stores in Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more to follow.

AT&T's wireless exclusive may not be as extensive as its 2007 exclusive with Apple's iPhone (aapl).

The deal will likely have Magic Leap One relying on AT&T's 5G network, though the device is also expected to work over Wi-Fi. The device is scheduled to ship to developers and designers by year end, Magic Leap says.

The Magic Leap was a tech darling back when VR and AR first started making a comeback, even grabbing Google's attention with its promises of delivering a game-changing headset resulting in a $502 million investment from the web giant, among others.

Eye tracking and head tracking are both included, as well. The company has been showing off its "Creator Edition" product, a set of goggles and a portable, wearable computer to power them. The makers explained during yesterday's livestream (embedded below) that one of those ARM cores will be dedicated to game/app logic while the other will feed the GPU. ML Next is Magic Leap's mysterious next device.

The firm was recently granted a patent for what appeared to be their AR glasses, sparking fresh rumours in summer 2017.

"AT&T is excited to pair our pioneering technologies, unmatched network, content platform, and vast customer ecosystem with Magic Leap's efforts to build the next generation of computing", said AT&T Communications CEO John Donovan, who has observer rights with Magic Leap's board.

These are the Lightwear glasses, the Lightpack computing platform, and the Control handheld controller. We've combined our Digital Lightfield technology with environment mapping, precision tracking and soundfield audio to produce wonderful experiences that feel natural.

And, the handheld controller will give users force control and haptic feedback, and allow for six degrees of freedom.
