Man With No Arms Accused of Stabbing Tourist With Scissors in Florida

Jonathan Crenshaw's mugshot

Crenshaw was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.

The publication has profiled Crenshaw in the past and found he has had multiple run-ins with police and other officials, including violent crime charges.

A homeless artist who does not have arms stabbed a tourist by grabbing a pair of scissors with his feet, police say.

According to a Reuters report, he was subsequently detained near the attack site in a shopping and tourist area around the South Beach and charged with one count of aggravated battery, a second-degree felony.

The victim, Cesar Coronado, was admitted to a local hospital bleeding from his left arm, police said.

Barrientos described the attacker to police as a homeless, armless man. Officers found Crenshaw a short distance away and arrested him.

A friend of Coronado's, however, said the two asked Crenshaw for directions when he suddenly stabbed Coronado in the arm. The man then allegedly stabbed Coronado twice before fleeing the scene, according to the arrest report.

Police said there were no indications that Crenshaw was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.

The Miami Herald reports that Crenshaw is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $7,500 bond.

He will stand before a judge on Wednesday, July 18.
