Netflix explores new premium price tier for 4K

Currently, the highest package is worth $13.99 that is known by the name of Premium.

After a price hike a year ago, Netflix's two-stream HD tier is now $10.99 per month and the Premium plan is $13.99 per month. A spokesperson said: "We are testing slightly different price points and features to understand how consumers value Netflix".

According to screenshots taken by Tutto Android, Ultra would allow for viewing on four screens and streaming in HDR, an extremely high definition viewing experience that would only be available in that tier. Netflix has confirmed the Ultra tests, but noted that only select customers will see the additional option.

There are now three subscription plans to choose from: $7.99 Basic (Standard Definition - 1 screen at a time), $10.99 Standard (HD available - 2 screens) and $13.99 Premium (HD and Ultra HD on 4 screens). The new plan would cost roughly $16.99 per month and it's now being tested in two different versions.

A potential change that could affect more subscribers - some consumers in Europe also were offered a change from the current Netflix plans. The Basic is priced at $7.99, allowing the users to use Netflix at one screen at a time without any HD facilities.

Netflix's current three tiers including "ultraHD".

Netflix would not provide details about the tests, first reported by Italian website TuttoAndroid and CordCutting.com. Saran said, "Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer the specific price points or features included in this test".

HDR basically shows your picture in more dynamic colours and contrast. Netflix also increased its Premium plan by $2 to $13.99. Unfortunately, this means they are cutting back the Premium tier from four streams to just two streams.
