OxygenOS Open Beta seeds Project Treble support for OnePlus 5/5T

OxygenOS Open Betas for the OnePlus 5 and 5T now support Project Treble

The new beta build has introduced Project Treble to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Now, though, support has been added to the latest version of the Oxygen OS beta designed for last year's phones. OnePlus has announced the OxygenOS Open Beta 13 and Open Beta 11 for the OnePlus 5 and 5T respectively, which brings new features including the Project Treble compatibility. The user interface of OnePlus' take on Android gets a few extra improvements and tweaks too.

Project Treble is a Google's initiative to resolve one of the most common problems faced by Android devices - slower updates. Now, Google has separated the software and hardware part of the update, making things more streamline and much faster. Unfortunately, it also means we can't flash it just yet for our own hands-on-something we're excited to do, given the substantial changes present. HDR settings are now kept from the last time app was used while editing experience in the Gallery has been optimized together with the editing experience in Gallery. With the update, you get a color wheel for customization, which is what a lot of users have been asking for. OnePlus has also changed the logic for the contact page on the default OnePlus dialer app. OnePlus rolled out a fix for all those compatibility issues with 3rd party camera apps. It was the second effort that yielded important updates including improved remote session process, agent response, community page, and better estimates for fix costs on the support page. OnePlus also promised that it is working on an improved panorama experience and it is planning to launch the fix by the end of the year. But this is not all because the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T can now dispose of it without risk, project Treble. You also get improved search tags in the app drawer along with a new "New Installs" category tag in the app drawer. Even though it's a Beta update, OnePlus, after testing will roll out the feature to both the smartphones in the stable OxygenOS version very soon.

However because this is still beta software there will undoubtedly be bugs, meaning if you want to download it you should do so on a device that is not your primary phone.
