Pakistan puts Nawaz Sharif and daughter on exit control list

Updates about all delays and reasons behind them were being passed out to the media though a window of a washroom inside the court complex which was left slightly ajar

Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Captain (retired) Muhammad Safdar Awan, convicted in the Avenfield case, appeared at a rally of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Political observers believe that the decision for tendering arrest by Nawaz Sharif at Lahore Airport to NAB authorities would boost the morale of workers of his party PMLN and his political move give him a leverage in forthcoming general elections 2018 which are scheduled to be held on July 25, 2018.

Speaking to reporters in London, the three-time prime minister said that he and his daughter would land in Lahore and decide their future strategy once they arrive in Pakistan.

Upon being asked about her playing Benazir Bhutto's (BB) role, Maryam responded that she had the upmost respect for her and her struggle, but she is Maryam Nawaz, an independent identity, thus should not be compared to BB.

Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Safdar, are now in London, where the three-time former PM's wife is undergoing cancer treatment.

They are likely to be arrested upon arrival at the Lahore airport. The party planned the rally a day earlier but did not disclose that Mr Safdar would join it, he said. Persons put on the ECL are prohibited from leaving Pakistan.

Mushahidullah further said that the caretaker federal government and NAB should allow Nawaz to address the people and urge them to disperse peacefully. The PML-N media cell today shared an audio recording of Safdar saying he would surrender to authorities today on the directives of the party leadership.

The handout said NAB would also initiate legal proceedings against those who provided illegal shelter to the convict and tried to create hurdles in his arrest.

There were many holding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) flags and protesting outside Sharif's Avenfield apartment.

"We have chose to return on Friday (July 13)", Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz announced late on Saturday.
