Release of 5th 'Indiana Jones' movie pushed to 2021

Disney Movie Release Dates Poppins Moves Up Jungle Cruise Delayed

Disney released an updated movie release schedule for the next few years, pushing Indiana Jones 5 back to 2021 and Mary Poppins Returns up.

This is nearly exactly one year later than its prior release date of July 10, 2020. Not a lot of time in the grand scheme of things.

The Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday announced that the planned fifth installment in the "Indiana Jones" franchise will be released on July 9, 2021 instead of July 2020. Much more to come on this one, so just stay tuned. As with all release date stories, the announcements relate to USA dates; the Ralph follow-up for example, is out in the States on 21 November this year before heading here on the 30th of the month.

Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford are both returning for the next Indiana Jones movie.

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt's Jungle Cruise now will set sail on a week later on October 11, 2019, and Disney had an unspecified live-action title scheduled for May 29, 2020, that has been designated to Maleficent 2.

Look, guys, stop trying to make Indiana Jones 5 happen. Is a man approaching 80 really going to convincingly be able to go on a world-spanning, bare-knuckle-brawling adventure? As expected, Disney has once again delayed the release of the long-awaited follow-up to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in the wake of a rewrite taking place on the script. Your mileage may vary, but we've yet to be convinced. The biggest question mark at this point is Harrison Ford. Ah, we can't wait.
