Skyrim on Nintendo Switch Not Likely to Get Creation Club Support

Fast Travel Will Feature as Normal in Fallout 76

Howard went on to explain that Bethesda's Switch team has been working on Fallout Shelter, which has surprised him with its quality. "People, they're on other things".

Skyrim launched for Switch past year to great success, but an element of the title missing is The Creation Club, which allows players to utilize mods in-game. "Right now we're doing nothing", he said. However, it seems that luxury will not be making its way to Nintendo Switch anytime soon, as Bethesda is not now developing mod support for the Switch edition of the popular fantasy game.

I followed this up with Todd Howard in an interview afterwards and asked what he meant.

"They asked for mods", he replied, "they asked for Creation Club - 'When are we getting more stuff?'"

To put it simply, Bethesda is aware that Switch fans want to see mods in their portable version of Skyrim, but it isn't something that the studio is focusing on. "I was forced to meet with a lot of "monetisation experts" during Fallout Shelter that didn't work for us". Are you disappointed that it might never be a thing in Skyrim on Switch? Do you think Bethesda is serious about still doing traditional single-player RPGs?

Todd is still very happy with how the Creation Club has fared on other consoles, but sees plenty of room for improvement.

Mod support has been - and will be - a fundamental part of Bethesda Game Studios games going forward.

Fallout 76 definitely wins the award for most divisive E3 2018 reveal. And there are no plans to bring it to the Nintendo Switch at this juncture. Nonetheless, when it finally did arrive, Skyrim fit Switch as we'd hoped, and the ability to play on trains and planes and the toilet, was delightful.
