UCLA basketball alum Billy Knight found dead after posting YouTube video

Billy Knight

Prior to his death on Sunday, former UCLA Bruins basketball player Billy Knight had been charged with six felonies for allegedly sexually abusing a child, TMZ Sports reported Wednesday.

Knight, 39, was found on a roadway at 2:45 a.m on Sunday and was pronounced dead a short time later by Phoenix firefighters.

Another former UCLA player, Tyler Honeycutt, died following a shootout and standoff with Los Angeles police on Friday night.

Along with being a former UCLA player, Knight was a basketball operations assistant for the Northern Arizona Suns of the Developmental G League in the 2016 - 2017 season.

In his chilling apology video, posted the day before he was found dead, Knight says that he lived a sinful life.

The athletic trainer opened up about having regrets and living what he described to be a "life of sin" that involved lying, cheating and stealing - even to the ones he loved most.

The official cause of death has yet to be determined by the Maricopa County medical examiner, but no foul play is suspected, according to the Phoenix Police Department. "And I stole", he said in the emotional video. I isolated myself from my family members, I isolated myself from my friends. "I isolated myself from my friends, and that's not something you should do". If this happens, you probably have a mental illness. I was a taker. Life is not a game. I hear voices in my head constantly and I don't know where they come from. "I just asked God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done". But he said he left "some things" for him, saying it's not much, but it's what he had left.

After graduating from UCLA, Knight went undrafted and spent time in the National Basketball Association D-League before going to the Harlem Globetrotters and playing overseas.
