Video shows George Clooney hurt in Italian scooter crash

Local daily newspaper La Nuova Sardegna reports Clooney's injuries are not serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room.

Local police are investigating the causes and responsibility of the accident.

Clooney was driving a motor scooter to work on Tuesday morning when he collided with a Mercedes making a sudden left turn. In fact, the actor said in an interview previous year that he fell in love with his wife Amal Clooney after meeting her in the area in 2013.

"He is recovering at his home and will be fine", the spokesperson continued.

Clooney is staying on the Italian island while he films a new TV series, "Catch 22", based on the classic 1961 novel by Joseph Heller. However, he was lucky to have escaped with such minor injuries, judging by the video just released.

George Clooney is on the mend after a scary scooter accident in Italy.

'George was treated and released from an Olbia hospital.

A spokesman for the Italian Carabinieri told the Press Association: 'At 8.15am George Clooney was riding his scooter on the State Road 125 towards Olbia from Puntaldia.

A photo published on La Nuova Sardegna website shows a black scooter on one side of the road, with a dark blue estate vehicle facing the other way, at an angle across the central reserve. His second shock of the day came when Clooney's bodyguard informed him who he had hit.

Cicognani confirmed that George was, fortunately, 'not seriously injured'.

Clooney's wife, Amal, who is also in Sardinia with their 1-year-old twins, rushed to her husband's side. "The driver decided to make an abrupt right turn and clipped George".
