Zombie comedy with Bill Murray, Adam Driver begins production

Jim Jarmusch in Now Filming a Zombie Movie Starring Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, and Chloë Sevigny

Production for The Dead Don't Die is now underway in NY, where The Daily Mail spotted Gomez, actor Austin Butler, Driver, and Murray shooting a gruesome, blood-soaked scene.

It is the third team-up of Jarmusch and Focus, which distributed the writer-director's Broken Flowers (2015) and The Limits of Control (2009). The zombie movie, which is now being filmed, stars Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Selena Gomez, Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, and Chloe Sevigny.

The Dead Don't Die will likely debut next year, with Zombieland 2 slated to hit theaters in October of 2019 in honor of the original film's 10th anniversary. Joshua Astrachan and Carter Logan are set to produce. It's titled The Dead Don't Die, and it shoots over the summer. That would include Murray's delightful, java-gulping appearance within the Coffee and Cigarettes vignettes and his criminally underrated turn as a chronic bachelor in Broken Flowers.

A zombie movie coming from Jim Jarmusch and Bill Murray sounds like a very interesting endeavor. Brace yourself: "It's a zombie movie", Murray shared with Philly.com.

What he plans to do with the zombie genre is a mystery, but given what he did with vampires in Only Lovers Left Alive, it should be inventive and unique based on the acclaim that movie received. "But, no, I will not play a zombie". Paterson was a near ideal motion picture about a blue collar everyman (Adam Driver) discovering poetry in the mundane. This will be the first time the filmmaker has worked with Selena Gomez, who is no stranger to the world of weird and wild indie movies after taking a starring role in the greasy crime thriller Spring Breakers. Now, as The Film Stage reports, Jarmusch is again toying with horror elements for his follow-up to 2016's Paterson. For now, Jim is going to play in the land of the dead for a little while.
