Zsa Zsa, the 'World's Ugliest Dog,' dies

Zsa Zsa was truly a thing of beauty. More

Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota, Zsa Zsa's owner, called the dog's death "devastating", as reported by Today, July 11.

Zsa Zsa's family drove about 30 hours to California last month to enter her in the Ugliest Dog pageant, where she beat out 13 competitors to take home the trophy and $1,500. She was purchased by a rescue group after spending the first five years of her life in a Missouri puppy mill. Zsa Zsa and her family made a long road trip to compete in the World's Ugliest Dog contest, which is held in Petaluma, Calif.

The 9-year-old English Bulldog, known for her huge tongue, died in her sleep. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".

Recent updates from Brainard have shown Zsa Zsa being doted on by children - who also took on the job of brushing the dog's jutting teeth.

The dog mom said she named Zsa Zsa after the Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, as the pup enjoyed lounging on the couch "like a handsome model". Put up for auction after her breeding years were done, she was bought by an animal rescue group before making her way to Brainard's home. "It was sweet. She was waving at her", Brainard told Today. We were all saying our goodbyes and Mareslie went right over and gave her a kiss.

Ms Brainard said children used to sometimes shake that tongue as if giving a handshake to a paw.

The World's Ugliest Dog title holder died early in the morning. "She never really showed much excitement but yes, she was definitely living it up after she won".
