Celtic sign Daniel Arzani on loan

Tim Cahill of Australia speaks with Daniel Arzani of Australia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group C match between Australia and Peru at Fisht Stadium

Arzani completed a move to Manchester City from partner club Melbourne City last week but was always destined to be farmed out to Celtic.

Daniel Arzani revealed a telephone call with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers sealed his two-year loan deal with the Parkhead club.

The highly-rated 19-year-old, who played for his country at the recent World Cup tournament in Russian Federation, made the move from Melbourne City to Manchester City, but will now spend the next two years at Celtic Park.

Arzani said that his global teammate Tom Rogic, who recently signed a new contract at Celtic, had played a part in convincing him to join the Scottish champions.

The 19-year-old was the youngest player at this summer's World Cup, where he came on as a substitute in all three of Australia's group games.

"I'm looking forward to getting started".

"Basically he said to me that if it wasn't so good, he wouldn't have signed an extension to stay at Celtic Park".

The winger came off the bench in the Socceroos' group matches against France, Denmark and Peru, and joins worldwide colleague Tom Rogic at his new club.

"It was something I was very interested in doing, and when it became a reality, I was very excited".

Twitter user Labour Celtic Fans though was not happy with the club signing an attacking player, with defenders being the need of the hour at the club, putting the Champions League failure on the lack of a centre-back and right-back. "I love to take players on and hopefully I can bring some of that to the team".

Celtic are about to embark on their third match of the Scottish season - this one in the cup, against Partick Thistle - having already won against Livingston and lost against Hearts.
