Cipriani pleads guilty to common assault after Jersey bar incident

England rugby union global Danny Cipriani has been charged with assaulting police during an incident in the English Channel island of Jersey.

The 30-year-old is also charged with resisting arrest, common assault, larceny, and being disorderly on licensed premises.

English rugby outhalf Danny Cipriani has been arrested and charged by police after reportedly attacking a police officer at a nightclub.

Cipriani was sentenced in Jersey's Magistrate's Court on Thursday morning.

A statement from Jersey Police confirmed that the 30-year-old has been charged with five offences.


The incident occurred at The Royal Yacht hotel in Mulcaster Street in the island's capital, St Helier.

The Gloucester star is set to appear before a court tomorrow morning.

Gloucester released a short statement on Wednesday evening regarding the incident.

He was in the island with his club as part of a pre-season tour.

He has only played 16 times for England since he first broke onto the global scene aged 20 in 2008.

In June he started for England for the first time in a decade, playing a key role in a magical try that ensured victory over South Africa and ended a six-match losing streak.
