‘Diablo III’ Is Officially Coming to Nintendo Switch

Diablo III Launches on Nintendo Switch This Fall With Exclusive Content

While the third installment didn't achieve the same iconic status as Diablo II, people are still playing it to this day more than six years after the original release.

Eternal Collection will head to Nintendo Switch later this year, and the game is also now available on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Mac. Forbes chose to go ahead and spill the beans, revealing that Diablo 3 is indeed coming to Switch, even though this project was supposed to be unveiled later this year by Blizzard itself.

This definitive version of the game will include all the features and content from every expansion and update, as well as bonus items exclusive to Nintendo Switch. Blizzard on Thursday announced that the Diablo III Eternal Collection will launch on the Nintendo Switch later this year. That's likely still a ways out although with any luck, perhaps we'll hear something about it at BlizzCon 2018 in November.

In addition to the content you've seen on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the Switch release will include a few new goodies. There will be a Ganondorf cosmetic armour, a Triforce portrait frame, a Cucco pet and more. The whole process of bringing Diablo III to Switch took them about nine months. The trailer is actually kind of unique since it plays out much like a Nintendo Direct skit with Nintendo of America Reggie Fils Aime and Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime comedically discussing the game.

If you've never played Diablo 3 or you've been away from the game for awhile, the amount of dungeon-clearing, loot-collecting fun on offer here is staggering. Handheld mode will run at 720p (the resolution of the LCD), and the console mode will be 960p. Additionally, players with decent Internet connections may summon their friends via Nintendo's online service that will become available this September.

Diablo III: Eternal Collection will cost $59.99 when it launches, but we don't have an exact date.
