Everton land Barcelona's Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes and Brazil international Bernard

New manager Marco Silva is eyeing up another defender to bring to Everton

Everton have confirmed the signing of Brazil worldwide Bernard on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United but the Toffees have won the race, shelling out almost £30million.

Mina, who impressed at this summer's World Cup, had emerged as one of Jose Mourinho's key targets ahead of deadline day, with moves for Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng also having been touted.

Meanwhile, Gomes has been rendered surplus to requirements at Barcelona and has failed to become a regular in the Barca first team.

The Toffees secured the signings of Barcelona duo Mina and Gomes, before tying up the loose ends to bring in Brazil global Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk.

"The other big news at Everton is about Yerry Mina". "It's been a long, long saga has the Yerry Mina saga". "Andre Gomes as well of Barcelona has been mentioned, I'm not sure that's one that's quite as near".

Everton officials were in Barcelona on Thursday, to put both players through a medical so their moves could go through ahead of the 5pm deadline for the English transfer window.

Everton beat a host of Premier League and European clubs to the signing of Bernard with the Brazilian global becoming Marco Silva's fourth signing of the summer after Richarlison, Digne and Virginia.

Bernard also promised Everton supporters that he would give his all for the club this season.

Everton begin their Premier League campaign away to Wolves at Molineux on August 11 before they host Southampton on Merseyside a week later on August 18.
