Everton have signed André Gomes on loan from Barcelona.

Manchester United is also eager to sign a center-back and had settled on Mina but the Red Devils have now shifted their focus to Leicester City star Harry Maguire.

In the immortal words of one Larry David: preeeetty... preeeeetty... pretty good.

Marco Silva's Everton looked to be heading into the 2018-19 season having only strengthened with Richarlison and Lucas Digne, but on Thursday they found agreements with Barcelona for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, while Brazil global Bernard signed on a free transfer following his Shakhtar Donetsk departure. Everton agreed a €2.25m (£2.02m) loan fee for the 25-year-old, who now has a minor injury but passed a medical held in Barcelona, and will pay his wages in full for the season.

Bernard was the first to be announced on a free transfer after his contract with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk ran out at the end of the past season.

Barcelona have been trying to offload the duo all summer and it seems they will be able to succeed by the transfer window slams shut in England at 5pm.

The Catalan club have included a buy-back clause in the deal with the Toffees.

"The manager made me feel confident about playing here". This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

The Premier League club also parted company with Ramiro Funes Mori, Wayne Rooeny and Davy Klaassen among others in the summer transfer window.
