Wake Forest had no immediate comment, the AP reported.

Wake assistant coach Jamill Jones allegedly punched Boca Raton, Fla. resident Sabor Szabo in the head Sunday morning, according to a report from the New York Post.

Jones, who is an assistant basketball coach, is accused of punching Sandor Szabo, 35, outside a hotel in Long Island City last weekend, causing Szabo to fall, hit his head on the pavement and lose consciousness, NBC New York reported. His family says he was visiting NY from Boca Raton for a wedding. According to multiple reports, Szabo knocked on multiple auto windows while looking for an Uber. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person was not allowed to speak publicly. He turned himself into police and was charged with assault.

Szabo, who was left unconscious after the altercation, died on Tuesday. He is awaiting arraignment on a misdemeanor assault charge.

Information on Jones' lawyer wasn't immediately available.

Wake Forest released a statement.

According to Jones' biography page on the Wake Forest website, he coached college basketball at Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast and Virginia Commonwealth before coming to Wake Forest. "He was fun to be with, interesting, and always interested".

Szabo, also 35, was "super outgoing, friendly, and an incredibly smart businessman", his company, at What If Media Group, said.

"His handsome spirit and his love of life will remain with us", the company said.
