Idris Elba Is Back in Talks to Be the Next James Bond

After two years of speculation, Daniel Craig announced last August that he will return to play James Bond for a fifth time.

Anyone know how Stringer Bell likes his martinis? Fuqua responded that the transition "will happen eventually", going on to suggest Elba as the frontrunner for the part.

The article claims that Broccoli told Fuqua that "it is time" for a person of color to be cast in the role. There's also the fact that Elba plans to follow up his directorial debut Yardie with an amibitious adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as actor, director, producer and musician - so he may well be too busy for Bond. Whether it's a tortured detective in Luther, an all-seeing demi-god, Heimdall, in Thor series, or even portraying Nelson Mandela in Long Walk to Freedom, Elba is one of Hollywood's hottest commodity.

In January, the Luthor star said producers should "do something different" with the role and have a black or white actress take up the mantle of the spy franchise.

"Idris could do it if he was in shape", Fuqua said. You need a guy with physically strong presence.

Director Antoine Fuqua chatted to Barbara about who will take over from Daniel Craig, 50, if he hangs up his gun after the next Bond film, due next year.

But Craig, who's played the secret agent since 2005, still has one more film to make.

Bond 25 is scheduled to be released in North Amercian theaters on November 8, 2019, with a United Kingdom release scheduled for October 25, 2019.
