Jimmy Kimmel shuts down Kanye West's love for Donald Trump

West appeared on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live " on Thursday. West did not discuss Trump again.

"When I see people just even, like, go at the president, it's like, why not try love?"

The rapper ended a lengthy sentiment he had been making by saying, "One by one by one we can defuse this nuclear bomb of hate that we're in as a society by thinking of everyone as our family".

West's appearance on the show is the first since his 2013 dispute with Kimmel over a skit mocking Kanye's lengthy BBC Radio 1 interview with Zane Lowe.

"Just in literal terms, there are families being torn apart at the border of the country-there are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this president is doing", Kimmel says.

"What was insane was - I've never told this story before - so I'm presenting an award, and Kanye was nominated".

After West stared silently for several seconds, Kimmel said "Why don't we take a break and we'll come back". Whilst more clearly thought out than his various tweets about the president, the conversation quickly shut down when Kimmel pushed West to state whether he believed Trump cared about black people. In fact, West thought it was a shame that there are not more people who love Trump.

He talked about his bipolar diagnosis, his kids, his wife Kim Kardashian obtaining pardon for a great-grandmother serving life sentence and how it took him so long to finally tell the world how he felt about the commander-in-chief.

Kimmel earlier asked West if he was anxious about his wife, Kim Kardashian West, being alone with the president in the Oval Office.

"Well, she's super passionate about it, and it was wonderful for her to see that dream come true", West said.

Kimmel also asked what was up ahead for West, following his June album release, ye.

If you follow Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard on social media, you know they're always keeping things real- from parenting to marriage to mental health, they're always willing to tell the truth, especially if it helps someone else in the process.

West: "I'm into designing".
