King Kohli reigns over England in third Test

Sky Sports

All-rounder Pandya took five wickets for 28 runs in six overs, including four for eight in 11 balls, as he revelled in the swing-friendly conditions.

Virat Kohli fell three short a hundred while Ajinkya Rahane finally rediscovered his touch as India made a steady start to the third Test.

Pandya's five wickets came in 29 balls, only bettered by Harbhajan Singh's five wickets in 27 balls against Windies at Kingston in 2006.

Vice-captain Jos Buttler attempted to counter-attack and hit 39 off 31 balls, but England were still 168 runs adrift when he was caught in the deep off Bumrah.

England's opening pair of Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings survived a tricky nine overs before the close of play on Monday, reaching 23 without loss.

Joe Root's side, who won the first two Tests impressively, lost ten wickets in the afternoon session to be bowled out for 161 in reply to India's 329.

2 - Virat Kohli has scored centuries in both the Test matches where he got out in the 90s in this format.

India crossed 200 in the 63rd over with Kohli and Pujara bringing up their 100-run partnership off 270 balls.

However, it was also notable as Kohli's 23rd ton saw him go past Mohammad Azharuddin's tally of 426 runs to become the Indian captain with most runs in a series in England. Overall, he is the sixth Indian batsman to achieve this feat. It is not the first time when India skipper, Virat Kohli shut the mouth of his haters.

Things were moving along nicely when Pujara edged a Stokes' delivery to Cook at first slip against the run of play.

Pujara faced 208 balls, including 19 fours, and put on 113 with Kohli.

It could be seen in the manner Pujara took his sweet time to get going, even as Kohli set off quickly for the day.

England only narrowly avoided the follow-on total of 130 but India had strengthened their grip on the game as they looked to recover from 2-0 down in the five-match series.

Anderson though bowled a superb spell in the morning and didn't let the batsmen score easily.

Woakes and Stokes kept things tight at the other end, particularly the latter, as the two batsmen were troubled by awkward bounce on a few occasions.
