Kurt Zouma Staying Put In London As Everton Look To Seal Loan

L'Equipe are an extremely reliable source, and the fact that they are reporting this indicates the deal is close to completion.

Manchester United are desperately looking to sign defensive reinforcements before the transfer window shuts, and have opened talks with Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to reports in L'Equipe.

Zouma spent a year ago on loan at Stoke, who were relegated after finishing 19th, but his path to the first team at Chelsea looks hard due to the presence of Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill. With his prospects unlikely to improve much at Chelsea this season, a move away from the Bridge makes sense.

Everton boss Marco Silva is keen to recruit a new central defender before Thursday's transfer deadline and has turned to Zouma as the club's deal to sign Yerry Mina from Barcelona has stalled. Great news for Manchester United fans.

The Toffees made a late move for the 23-year-old on deadline day but had to wait until Friday to learn if their bid had been successful.

Everton want to add further quality to their ranks following a hectic finale to the summer transfer window, with Zouma identified as a loan target.

Chelsea's stance over the interest from Manchester United gives Everton a major boost to land him on a loan deal, with the Toffees going into overdrive on deadline day.
