Manchester City rocked by Claudio Bravo Achilles rupture

Claudio Bravo

Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo could be out for the rest of the season after tearing his achilles tendon ruling him out for at least six months.

The Chile worldwide picked up the injury in Monday's training session and underwent scans in the afternoon.

His potentially lengthy absence would mean 20-year old Daniel Grimshaw, promoted to the first-team squad last season, would have to step up.

The injury leaves manager Pep Guardiola without experienced back-up to first-choice keeper Ederson.

City revealed the news after Bravo had earlier tweeted: "No matter what happens or how it looks today, life goes on, and tomorrow will certainly be better".

Manchester City have announced that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon.

City can make free-transfer signings until the end of this month or could apply for an emergency loan.

His presence allowed Guardiola to sell England Under-21 goalkeeper Angus Gunn to Southampton in July and Joe Hart to Burnley in August.

"The Chilean keeper underwent scans this afternoon which have confirmed a rupture in the tendon of his left foot".

The boyhood City fan, who made 15 appearances for the EDS and Under 19's last term, recently penned a new four-year deal with the club.
