Nokia 6.1 gets a price cut, Nokia 6.1 Plus expected this week

Until last week, it was being speculated that the company plans to launch only one handset - Nokia 6.1 Plus - which is the global variant of the Nokia X6 that was launched in China recently.

All eyes are on HMD Global, as the Finnish company is expected to unveil a brand new smartphone on August 21.

To recall, the Nokia 6.1 sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The webpage also features a teaser video of Bollywood music director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

Nokia 6.1 Plus is HMD Global's latest global mid-end smartphone.

Competitive pricing for the Nokia 1 and other cheap models has brought the phone maker back into a market they helped define nearly two decades ago. Named the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the smartphone was launched in Hong Kong in July. It may be priced under Rs 20,000 in India. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

The phone features a 16MP+5MP vertically stacked dual rear camera and a front facing 16MP selfie camera. A fingerprint sensor at the back and Face Unlock feature are present in the smartphone. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage expandable up to 400GB via a MicroSD card. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB-Type C. Additionally, the company asserted that it will soon bring Android Pie update to all devices.
