Patriots Add $5M In Incentives To Contract Of Tom Brady

ATTENDANCE

Brady is now set to make $15 million, but will be given a variety of performance-based bonuses to bring him closer to the actual QB market.

However, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Patriots and Brady are expected to agree to add "performance-based incentives" to his current contract that would put him in the realm of the annual salary of numerous top-paid quarterbacks.

Brady, the NFL's reigning Most Valuable Player, turned 41 on August 3 and is entering his 19th season.

Brady signed a two-year contract extension in 2016 for $15 million per year and is signed through the 2019 season. where he'll be the age of 42.

His average salary of $15 million ranks 22nd in the National Football League, just behind the Cleveland Browns' Tyrod Taylor ($15.3 million) and the Cincinnati Bengals' Andy Dalton ($16 million), per the Roster Management System.

The deal would lift the five-time Super Bowl champion's compensation toward current market value at the quarterback position.

The top five quarterbacks that have the highest guarantees in salary are all signed through at least the 2022 season.

Brady, who did not participate in offseason workouts but attended mandatory minicamp, has not commented on his contract. "Those things are very personal".

Brady is coming off an MVP season, during which he completed 66.3 percent of his passes and threw 32 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
