Robin Haase stuns Alexander Zverev in Cincinnati Masters, Novak Djokovic advances

Novak Djokovic returns a shot against Adrian Mannarino (not pictured) in the Western and Southern Tennis Open at Lindner Family Tennis Centre in Cincinnati August 15, 2018.

Australian Open runner-up and world number seven Cilic outlasted qualifier Marius Copil 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-4.

Zverev, who won in Washington earlier in the month, is yet to win a match from four visits to Cincinnati and the defeat acts as another blow to his US Open preparations. And, yeah, since then he's come a long way.

Djokovic, who also lost to Tsitsipas in Toronto, hit five aces and broke his French opponent five times to maintain his hopes of winning the Cincinnati title for the first time in his career and completing the sweep of Masters 1000 titles. But, you know, I have been training a lot and trying to find the game and the level of tennis that I want to be on. "And we have to be a little bit lucky, as well, against these top guys".

In other second-round men's action Wednesday afternoon, Canada's Milos Raonic defeated Turkey's Malek Jaziri 6-3, 7-5, 13th-seeded Spaniard Pablo Carreño Busta topped American Bradley Klahn 6-4, 6-4, sixth-seeded South African Kevin Anderson defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 and 11th-seeded Belgian David Goffin rallied to defeat Frenchman Benoit Paire 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

The 10th-seeded Serb, who has reached the final five times, suffered stomach problems during the match and was attended to by a doctor during the second set.

"Credit to him playing well the first set, but I wasn't myself". "I kind of made it through, and with the help of the doctor and God I'm just happy that I managed to overcome the challenge".

Djokovic returned to wrap up the second set and raced into a 5-0 lead in the decider before serving out the match. Djokovic will next face either fifth seed Dimitrov or Zverev.

There was a major shock in Cincinnati, where Alexander Zverev went down 5-7 6-4 7-5 to Robin Haase.

Stan Wawrinka enjoyed a solid win beaten Kei Nishikori 6-4, 6-4.

He will play either Hyeon Chung or Juan Martin del Potro in the round of 16, but the victor will not be decided until Thursday after play was suspended due to rain.
