Despite having opened direct talks with Pyongyang, Washington continues to press for full compliance with existing worldwide sanctions against North Korea to keep pressure on Pyongyang to end its programs for nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

After the latest round of sanctions, China's official Xinhua news agency has said that Washington's "maximum pressure" approach on Pyongyang ignores the situation on the ground in the Korean Peninsula, implying that the U.S.is going for overkill.

"Treasury will continue to implement existing sanctions on North Korea and will take action to block and designate companies, ports and vessels that facilitate illicit shipments and provide revenue streams to North Korea", Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said.

Profinet's director general, Vasili Aleksandrovich Kolchanov, has also been indicted after being found guilty of interacting directly with North Korean reps in Russian Federation.

When asked for comment on the U.S. Treasury statement, Liang Ye, legal representative of Dalian Sun Moon Star International Logistics Trading, said that the matter was still unclear and that the Chinese company hadn't received any notice.
