Steven Seagal appointed as special representative at Russian Foreign Ministry

Details of Steven Seagal’s special Russia-US envoy mission revealed

Officially the post of Seagal's called "the special envoy the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on issues of Russian-American ties and common cultural-historical heritage".

The Russian Foreign Ministry has appointed actor Steven Seagal as a special representative to improve U.S.

Seagal was also granted Serbian citizenship in 2016, following several visits to the Balkan country. "I always felt that the US and Russian Federation should be best friends and allies". USA intelligence agencies have accused Russian Federation of meddling in American elections.

For more than a decade Seagal, who according to his own website is 66, has been a regular visitor to Russian Federation.

Seagal, who has warm ties with President Vladimir Putin and was granted Russian citizenship in 2016, said he was "deeply humbled and honoured" by the appointment.

"I've always had a very strong desire to do all I can to help improve Russian-American relations", Seagal was cited as saying. "I was working towards without having an official status and now it is a great honor for me to do the same officially".

"Let's be honest. However, for anyone to think that Vladimir Putin had anything to do with fixing the elections or even that the Russians have that kind of technology is stupid". For instance, veteran French actor Gérard Depardieu was given a Russian passport in 2013, after becoming a tax exile. His movies, including such titles as "Under Siege" and "Sniper: Special Ops", are popular with Russian audiences.

The adimiration appears to be mutual.

He said he had called Putin "one of the world's great leaders"; he described the Russian president as a personal friend and expressed a desire to improve relations between the U.S. and Russia.

Apart from his commitments with Russia, Seagal has co-signed dubious cryptocurrency schemes and has been accused by numerous women, including Portia De Rossi and Bond actress Rachel Grant, of abuse and sexual harassment. More recently, as Bloomberg reported, Serbia refused to join Europe's sanctions on Moscow earlier this year.
