Alan Wake TV Series Adds Legion Scribe Peter Calloway as Showrunner

Alan Wake is being adapted for TV

Although Alan Wake was released in May 2010 for the Xbox 360, the gaming population hasn't forgotten Wake's adventure through idyllic Washington. As of now, the Alan Wake TV series has no planned air date or network to air on.

Alan Wake, a game that was structured like and inspired by TV shows, is set to become a TV show itself.

Contradiction Films partner Tomas Harlan explained why Alan Wake is a ideal fit for TV... Remedy Entertainment-the developers of both Alan Wake and Max Payne-and Contradiction Films-the production company behind video game-to-movie adaptations Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Dead Rising: Watchtower-are allegedly collaborating on the project. Harlan's also confirmed that there's some interest from a number of studios, but he hasn't explicitly named these studios. "That was Sam [Lake's] vision".

Lake's game was influenced by The Twilight Zone, Secret Window, Northern Exposure, masters of horror Stephen King and Alfred Hitchcock, and other television projects. Contradiction Films' Tomas Harlan told Variety that Lake is a "huge part" of the show and that, ultimately, it's still "his baby". According to Harlan, he plans to pitch the show in October.

Don't worry though, just because Alan Wake 2 materials are being used for the TV show, doesn't mean a sequel isn't happening - Lake insists Remedy is still trying to make another game happen. "We'll be expanding the lore of this insane and dark universe and diving deeper into certain aspects of it than the game ever did".

There's now no word regarding what network the show will premiere on, which actors (if any) are attached to the project, and whether or not the show will serve as a kind of sequel to the original game or whether it will just exist somewhere in the Alan Wake universe.

Lake also mentioned the multiple Alan Wake video game follow-ups Remedy workshopped over the years, some of the details and assets of which found their way to the public.
