Coke is ‘closely watching’ the market for drinks infused with cannabis extract

Soft drink titan Coca Cola is

The companies declined to comment on the report but acknowledged their interest in that segment of the cannabis market.

Aurora spokeswoman Heather MacGregor said her company "has expressed specific interest in the infused-beverage space and we intend to enter that market".

Noting the space for cannabidiol-based drinks is "evolving quickly", the company stressed that the ingredient doesn't produce the high that comes from another cannabis-derived chemical known as THC.

The statement followed a report that Coca-Cola was allegedly in "serious talks" to develop cannabis-related beverages with Canada's Aurora Cannabis. Much of the industry is still waiting for the execution of legal cannabis to happen in Canada which is scheduled to go into place on October 17th of this year.

Aurora Cannabis is planning for a United States initial public offering in October, the company's chief corporate officer said. (Source: " Aurora Cannabis Acquires Europe's Largest Organic Hemp Company", Cision, September 12, 2018.) The deal will open up Agropro to exploiting the CBD components of its hemp.Aurora is planning to use that formerly discarded hemp biomass containing CBD to create a number of wellness products. It all started when Canopy Growth received a $4 billion investment from Constellation Brands, the beverage maker behind Corona beer and Svedka vodka, sending its stock up more than 22% in a single day. The new beverages will be pegged to drinkers who suffer with inflammation, pain or cramping.

"The company has been caught flat-footed in the past in not keeping up with trends in beverages". "I think what they're saying is what they should be saying on this very new and emerging beverage".

One of the most recent ventures in the industry has been the company Molson Coors Brewing Co. announcing a joint venture with the company Hexo Corp.

"I think you have to be very, very careful with this as a large brand". "You don't want to be too far ahead on any curve".
