Dua Lipa Issues Statement After Fans Were Dragged Out Of Her Show

Videos of fans being kicked out of the concert have become widely shared on social media, with most web users criticising the security guards brutal behaviour.

Faced with the calamity, the pop singer was so upset and appeared to cry as she consoled her fans from the stage. I always want my music to bring strength, hope and unity.

According to Shanghaiist, it's still unclear why fans weren't allowed to stand up during the show.

It was suggested some fans were ejected for waving pro-gay rights flags at the concert on Wednesday. "I love you Shanghai". In the aftermath of the catastrophic concert, attendees began posting videos onto Twitter showing security officers roughly dragging fans out of the venue, warning them not to stand up, and even continuing to rough them up outside of Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Center.

Additionally, the university student said one man was removed after reportedly waving a rainbow flag.

Lipa posted a statement on Instagram after the controversy at her Shanghai show.

After the incidents, a tearful Lipa, 23, told the crowd, "I want us all to dance".

One woman, who was at the concert with her daughter, told the BBC that people were being ejected "just for standing up"' during the show.

Dua Lipa is on her first tour of China and has played in Guangzhou and Shanghai.

Homosexuality is not illegal in China and was decriminalized almost 20 years ago, BBC reports, though attitudes toward the LGBTQ community and its portrayal in the media have been less than progressive, with government bans on various forms of LGBTQ content for being "pornographic and vulgar".

"I was horrified by what happened and send love to all my fans involved", she added. "I want us all to dance, I want us all to sing, I want us all to have a really good time ..."
